To say it all
I didn't
intend to attend the rally this year. Maybe last year's troubles, I
thought
I needed a rest from the Elba rally. In the end anyway I have decided
to
go, but attend it in a different way. I have been there more to do an
holiday
and less to attend a scooter rally, for this reason I have left one day
in advance on my freshly restored GP 200, because I wanted to do a full
tour of the Isle, which I had never done before. Spectacular, really.
Probably owing to
the
weather which has been glorious all weekend, warm at a point that quite
a few have decided to have a bath in the blue Tirreno sea, maybe
because
I have taken it easy, in the end has been one of the best Elba rallies
at all, look at the pictures and get the atmosphere.
The way there has
been
a quick trouble free one and the come back the same. Both me and Top
Thomas
on his SX200 'Bartolini replica' freshly restored as well were running
the bikes in, but after a few miles we got that feeling that everything
was right and the trust in the scooters made us do the trip back nearly
full throttle.
Must say that the
bigger
disco for the evening do and concert has proved to be a lot better and
I have enjoyed the DC Fontana gig as well.
The rest is the
usual
excellent Elba sea food and wine, the only comment I can do is as usual
when you don't think it will be good, it is!
Next year I am
planning
to do the trip on my newly acquired Durkopp Diana 200, German scooter

for most in Italy, the challenge is to get it ready in time! |
