1948 Lambretta B
One of the oldest Lambrettas in my collection, currently undergoing a sympathetic restoration while preserving as many original components as possible.

This is my latest find: a Lambretta B in wonderful original condition.
It is currently undergoing a sympathetic restoration. The idea is to give it a retro sports look while preserving as many original parts and details as possible.
Pictures and updates will be added as the restoration progresses. As of February 2023, it is roughly at the stage shown in the photographs below.
The engine has been one of the most complicated parts of the project, although it was generally in very good condition. Apart from replacing bearings and oil seals, piston rings, points, condenser, clutch and a few other service items, I have reused most of the original components that came off the scooter.
The most difficult part has been fitting brand-new spare parts. Many reproduction parts simply do not fit properly or need modification before they can be used.
For example, the crankshaft retaining nut I bought had a base that was too large and prevented the crankshaft from rotating freely inside the crankcase.
Reassembling the front suspension is probably the hardest job on the whole scooter. You have to compress the suspension springs while fitting the front assembly and, at the very same time, hold several other components in place.
I absolutely love this kind of challenge.
Restoration Progress
This page will be updated as the restoration progresses, documenting each stage of the work from the original condition through to the completed scooter.
